Hej, my name is Sam! I am from a small town in rural Massachusetts and this semester (Spring 2020) I am studying abroad in Denmark. I go to school at a small liberal arts college and I study Computer Science and am interested in Film and Spanish. In my free time, I enjoy singing, reading, and being active.
I started singing and taking voice lessons three years ago and I am a baritone in my college’s choir. At the beginning of last summer I went on a tour with them to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania where we learned some traditional baltic songs.
For fun, I play goalkeeper on my school’s quidditch team. For the past two years we have qualified to go to the US Quidditch National Championship!
I have also been on my school’s student government for the past two years. I ran on an environmental conservation platform and have worked with organizations and departments across my campus to decrease waste and improve energy usage.
Within CS, my passion lies with video games. Last semester I programmed my own game, Ei-Ko—an arcade-style coin collector. Some of my favorite games include Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Bioshock Infinite. I recently finished Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order and am working my way through The Witcher 3.
This semester at DIS in Copenhagen, I will be taking the following courses:
- Game Development (Lecture + Lab)
- Rhetoric of Gaming and Its Cultural Impact
- Shadow Wars: Fake News and Hybrid Warfare
- Danish Language and Culture
Please join me on my adventures as I explore the city of København (on a bike), dive into my classes, and meet some amazing people!
If you want to talk to me or hear about any of my other adventures, leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you!
